॥श्रीरामनवकम्॥

रामो रक्षतु राममेव शरणं रामेण मोक्षोऽञ्जसा
रामायास्तु नमःपदं श्रुतिपरं रामाद्धि धर्मे रतिः ।
रामस्यास्ति च जीवनं प्रियतमं रामे मनो मे सदा
हे राम प्रिय मे सना भवतु जिह्वायां मुहुः तारकम् ॥१॥

This Shloka has all declensions of the word “Rama”.

Obeisance to Rama, my protector & abode Ultimate Vedas is He, guiding me in all things good Owe my life dear to Him, with Him always in my mind Oh darling Rama, may Your redeeming name be always in my tongue.

धर्मो राम उदीरितश्च सततं धर्मञ्च यो ह्याचरद्
धर्मेणैव च साधितं हि सकलं धर्माय राज्यं त्यजन् ।
धर्मान् नास्ति परायणं परतरं धर्मस्य दासोऽभवत्
धर्मे चित्तरतिः सदा ह्यृतमतिः हे धर्म भूयो नमः ॥२॥

This Shloka has all declensions of the word “Dharma”.

Righteousness personified is RAma Ever on the Right path is RAma Accomplished everything He did Right Abandoned His Kingship upholding Right RAma was slave to being Righteous Knowing there is nothing more pious Mind always Right and Truth guiding his intellect Righteousness corporal, obeisance to Your might.

प्रीतिर्यस्य हि बोभवीति भवताद् अस्मासु सा रामता
भूयाद् रामकृपाचयं भवति तद्दृष्टिश्च सार्द्रा परा ।
भावो भक्तिमयो भवेच्च भविता श्वो मृत्युरापन्न भीः
बोभूयेत रमाधवस्य करुणा रामेण सम्भूयताम् ॥३॥

This Shloka has the root भू in various लकारs and forms.

His love overflows on us and may that be so We be fit for that Raama’s love profuse Soaking in that love eternal sighting Him so. Filled with devotion No fear any day of death or any commotion Mercy aplenty of the Lord of Rama We are blessed forever by Raama.

रामो ज्येष्ठसुतोऽजयो दशरथस्याजस्य पौत्रो गुरुर्
वासिष्ठो ह्यनुजाश्च लक्ष्मणमुनिः शत्रुघ्नमोदाग्रजः ।
रामे दत्तमनाः विनीतभरतो गाधेस्सुतस्य प्रियो
रामाजानिरहो सदा विजयतात् चित्ते विचित्रे भृशम् ॥४॥

This Shoka has various important names related to Rama.

Dasaratha’s eldest son Invincible RAma is Aja’s grandson Vasishtha as his teacher Saintly Lakshmana for a brother
Who himself is Satrughna’s brother And Bharata with his mind surrendered And forever obedient as the brother third
Favourite of Gadhi’s son who is Seer par excellence Husband of Sita, who lends him her name Rama
May He be rooted in my mind forever, the ultimate Rama

रामो दाशरथिः प्रिया भवति सा शारा च सात्यो महान्
सौमित्री च वरानुजौ च भरतः पुत्री च सार्वो कुले ।
पारीणः श्रुतिशास्त्रयोश्च महतामास्माकतां याति यो
यौष्माकोऽहमिति प्रियं भणति गाम्भीर्यञ्च तस्मै नमः ॥५॥

This Shloka has 10 तद्धित​ (Taddhita) usages.

RAma, as DASarathi so called DASarathA’s firstborn Masterly with his skill of archery & his country Ayodhya not in war torn
Blessed with truthful people and three brothers Lakshmana & Satrughna, Born of Sumitra, with the great Bharata preceding them
All endowed with progeny and versed in Vedas and scriptures So hailed by His subjects as their own which the mighty Rama

कैकेयी कटुभाषिणी च तरसा कामं ययाचे वरौ
रामो गच्छतु जङ्गलं च भरतः सद्योऽभिषिक्तो भवेत् ।
मैथिल्या सह लक्ष्मणेन सपदि प्रातिष्ठतर्धङ्परः
तस्मै रामदिवाकराय सततं भूयो नमोऽस्तु प्रियम् ॥६॥
This Shloka has 11 अव्यय​ (indeclinable)

Kaikeyi,Bharata’s mother chose to be cruel To stepson RAma with her two boons cool Asked she of her Lord RAma be sent to forest
And Bharata be crowned her son dearest Unhesitating RAma left for the harsh jungle For him the truth is verily the God single
Sita, also called Maithilee and Lakshmana followed Heart filled with joy knowing their humble part in the mission of God

श्रुत्वा मातृवचः प्रहृष्य मनसा प्रस्थाय शोकादृते
धृत्वा वल्कलभूषणं प्रियजनं हित्वा च नीत्वाऽनुजम् ।
सीतायाः करमाधृतः प्रियवचः सम्भण्य मातॄः समाः
हत्वा राक्षसरावणं च जयते रामाय तस्मै नमः ॥७॥

This Shloka has 8 अव्ययs (indeclinable) in the form of क्त्वा and ल्यप्

स्मारं स्मारमहो विचित्रचरितं रामस्य काव्यं शुभं
पाठं पाठमिह प्रपन्नजनता भक्त्या भृशं मोदते ।
भाषं भाषमतो मनः प्रकुरुते रामस्य संकीर्तनं
भावं भावमितो नमः प्रभवति प्रेम्णा च सीतापतिम् ॥८॥

This Shloka starts with वीप्सार्थक अव्यय​s in each line.

That RAma’s story is so vivid and wondrous Hearing one is transported to heavenly bliss Reading RAma’s story one feels divine
Speaking about RAma one keeps chanting in his heart shrine RAma, Lord of Sita, fills my heart with love to Him my obeisance

रामः कीर्त्यत ऐहिकः सुखमयो जप्येत तत्तारकं
चिन्त्येरन् ननघा गुणाश्च सततं दृश्येत रूपं वरम् ।
पठ्येरन् चरितं कथाश्च विविधाः स्मर्येत तत्सर्वदा
प्राप्येरन् सकलाः श्रियश्च चरमं लभ्येत गम्यं परम् ॥९॥

This Shloka has 8 passive verbs 2 in each line.

Let joy pervade this world where the word RAma is chanted
His flawless qualities embrace everyone’s thoughts unabated
His handsomest form fills everyone’s eyes
His history be read and reread pious
His devotees obtain the best of all in life thither
Holding his feet move towards liberation in the world other
