॥ धनमिच्छेद् हुताशनात् ॥

अग्निमीळे पुरोहितं यज्ञस्य देवमृत्विजं होतारं रत्नधातमम् (ऋ.वे.1.1.1) is the mantra. Here, रत्नधातमम् is defined by Sayanacharya as “यागफलरूपाणां रत्नानाम् अतिशयेन धारयितारं पोषयितारं वा” meaning “one who excessively nurtures or holds the results of Yagas. Further, Sayana quotes Yaska “रत्नशब्दः द्वितीयाध्याये मघम् इत्यादिषु अष्टाविंशतौ धननामसु पठितः । रमणीयत्वात् रत्नत्वम् ।दधातिधातुरत्र दानार्थवाची इति निरुक्तकारस्य यास्कस्य मन्त्रव्याख्यानम्” इति । Meaning “Yaska read the word “Ratna” among the 28 words collected to mean wealth. रत्नधातमम् means “the most giver of wealth”. रत्नानां धाता (दाता) रत्नधा, तत्र श्रेष्ठः=रत्नधातमः, तं , रत्नधातमम् । Yaska reads 28 names of wealth in second chapter starting from “मघम् to ऋतम् । One among them is “रत्नम्” (the seventh name). 

So अग्नि is regarded as the wealth giver in Vedas. Hence, it is said in Matsya Purana as -
आरोग्यं भास्करादिच्छेत् धनमिच्छेद् हुताशनात्। 
ज्ञानं च शङ्करादिच्छेत् मुक्तिमिच्छेत् जनार्दनात् ।। 
Here, there is another reading as “श्रियमिच्छेद् हुताशनात्” ॥ Both mean the same wealth.
